Add-in Installation Guide

Sideload the Draftora add-in to Microsoft Word using the manifest file

Most users should install from the Microsoft Marketplace instead.

This sideload guide is for enterprise IT teams or environments where Marketplace install isn't available.

Open Marketplace →

Step 1: Download the Manifest File

First, download the manifest file to your computer.

Download manifest.xml

Create the Add-ins Folder

Create a folder to store your add-in manifests. Use this path:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef\
Tip

Press Win+R, paste the path above, and press Enter to navigate directly.

Copy the Manifest File

Copy the downloaded manifest.xml file into the Wef folder you just created or navigated to.

Share the Folder

Right-click the Wef folder → Properties → Sharing tab → Share... → Add your username → Share.

Copy the network path shown (it will look similar to this):

\\YourPC\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef

Add Trusted Catalog in Word

Open Word and navigate to:

File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs

Register the Catalog

Paste the network path from step 3 into the 'Catalog URL' field and click 'Add catalog'. Then check 'Show in Menu' for the catalog you just added.

Restart Word and Load Add-in

Close and reopen Word. Then go to:

Insert → My Add-ins → Shared Folder

Select the Draftora add-in and click Add.

✓ Draftora should now appear in the ribbon and be ready to use!

Open the Wef Folder

Open Finder and press Cmd+Shift+G. Paste this path and click Go:

~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef
Note

If the 'wef' folder doesn't exist, you'll need to create it manually.

Copy the Manifest File

Copy the downloaded manifest.xml file into the wef folder.

Restart Word

Completely quit Word (Cmd+Q) and reopen it.

Load the Add-in

Navigate to:

Insert → My Add-ins → Shared Folder tab

Select the Draftora add-in and click Add.

✓ Draftora should now appear in the ribbon and be ready to use!
